THE FUNCTION and TYPES OF FAT


The function of fat is as a backup source of energy, sources of essential fatty acids, solvents vitamin A, D, E and K, giving flavor to food and to regulate body temperature. Fat reserves are needed in the body. But if there's too much of this reserve may impact on health. People who are in the fat body contained excessive amounts have a tendency to suffer from heart or kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases. A person with overweight 10% of ideal weight, then that person is able to be classified obese. Fat is a source of energy than carbohydrates and protein. In the presence of excess consumption of stored fat as energy reserves so if someone is in lack of calories, the fat is the first reserve to be used for energy after the protein.
People who consume fat in a serving too much will lead to heart disease, some cancers and other chronic diseases. There are various types of fat contained in food ingredients, which of course has different uses.
First, Saturated Fat
When this type of fat consumed will increase total blood cholesterol and increase LDL in particular. Saturated fat is found in red meat, cheese, butter, coconut oil and palm oil. Especially butter high in saturated fat margarine different from that tend to have more unsaturated fats. Most of the saturated fats tend to be solid at room temperature, except for some types of tropical oils.
Second, polyunsaturated fat
When this type of fat consumed will lower total blood cholesterol, especially LDL.
These fats are found in vegetable oils, fish, and seafood. Safflower oil (Carthamus tinctorius) and sun flower contains many types of polyunsaturated fats.
Third, Monounsaturated Fat
When this type of fat consumed will lower total blood cholesterol, especially LDL and increase HDL. This type of fat found in olive oil, canola oil peanut oil, meat, fish, poultry and avocado. Canola oil, olive oil and avocado oil contains monounsaturated fat types.
